Marang is a town and the seat of Marang District. The town is located on the South China Sea coast on the main highway between Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan. The main economic activity in Marang is fishery and tourism. Among the main attractions in Marang district include:

Kapas Island

Kapas Island, a gem of an island
with crystal clear water. Ideal for snorkeling, picnicking or just swimming. The only tropical island
in Malaysia with beautiful coral bay that is just 6 km away from the mainland. 

Sekayu Waterfalls

Sekayu Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful and natural attractions in the country. It is located amidst the forest reserve of Sekayu, just 45 minutes drive by car.

Kenyir Lake

Tasik Kenyir is the largest man made lake in South East Asia. There are about 340 islands which were once hilltops and highlands, 14 waterfalls with numerous rapids and rivers. This lake spans an area of 260,000 hectares that spreads well to form the greater inner reaches of Terengganu.

Candat Sotong

“Candat” or squid jigging or fishing is becoming a very famous activity attraction in Terengganu. The sea of Terengganu is abundant with squid driving the months of March to August. The peak period of squid jigging is normally in May.

Pine Hill Garden

A beautiful vineyard and botanical garden located at Kelulut, Marang. The great landscape conveys a cinematic view of Marang from the top hill seeing the ocean and the island. Truly, pine hill is a must. If you’re lucky, you might even get to taste the grapes.
